Hanukkah

Eight nights,

Lighting a candle that glows on the Menorah
Smoke spirals
 Fills up the entire room
 It’s lit at dusk.

Children excited about coming home from school.

Opening one present each day
Children ripping open the delicately wrapped presents
Makes children excited about what’s to come.

Parents give gelt, silver coins to their children.
Enjoying some food on the wonderfully decorated dining table with the Menorah on one side and special crockery that lays on the table,
 Whilst opening gifts.
Traditionally Latkes לאַטקעס, Potato Pancakes will be best, afterwards there will be
A plate of pontshkes פאנטשקעס, Doughnuts waiting to be eaten.

Blessed are you, Lord, our God, sovereign of the universe
Who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us
To light the lights of Chanukkah.
